Asia Argento is an Italian film maker and actress who was born into a Roman family. She has taken on both careers. At the age of nine she acted in Sergio Citti's Sogni e Bisogni. The following year, in 1988, she was cast as the principal character of Cristina Comencini's Zoo, and she also was in The Church which was directed by Michele Soavi. The role she played was Nanni Moretti's daughter the following year on the screen in Red Wood Pigeon, also directed by Moretti. Close Friends, written and directed Michele Placido was the film that launched Asia's professional career. Asia was able to transition from roles of a young girl to more mature and complicated roles. Cannes International Film Festival received the film with great awe. Trauma was her debut collaboration with Dario Argento, the renowned Italian director of horror. The mother of her character, Daria Nicoledi (a favorite of the Argento), played an anorexic young woman who was looking for the killer of her parents.
